Book description:
A special issue of the semi-annual journal “CzasyPismo” in English, edited by Adam Dziurok, Adam Dziuba, Bogusław Tracz and Sebastian Rosenbaum.
This volume contains articles that reflect the characteristic features of Upper Silesia in the period 1933-1989, i.e. in the era of the Third Reich and “People’s” Poland - ethnic problems, the presence of industry and the impact of totalitarian regimes. Their authors are historians from the Katowice Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance, specialising in the history of the 20th century. The first editions of these texts were published in Polish in the semi-annual journal “CzasyPismo”, a popular science periodical published since 2012 by the Katowice Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance in cooperation with the Gliwice Museum. The idea that guided its creators and authors from the very beginning of the magazine’s existence was to popularise the results of detailed research in an accessible and graphically attractive form. A selection of 28 articles, out of the almost three hundred texts that have so far appeared in “CzasyPismo”, not only gives a representative picture of the nature of this periodical, but at the same time provides a reliable portion of knowledge about the past.
