Book description:
The book covers the fate of Ulma family of Markowa in Southern Poland. Józef Ulma was a farmer, local activist, and a photographer-amateur. Józef Ulma and his wife Wiktoria in 1942 provided assistance to Jews from Markowa and Łańcut seeking refuge: the Goldman, Grünfeld, and Didner families. A year and a half later, on 24th March 1944, German gendarmes murdered Ulmas (with their little children) and Jewish families hiding in their house. Józef and Wiktoria Ulma were posthumously honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1995. They were beatified by the Catholic Church as martyrs in 2023.
