Book description:
Schools for minority children, although subject to the uniform Polish school system and regulations, nevertheless worked according to different rules. These included establishments providing instruction in their mother tongues, schools with Polish as the language of instruction and compulsory teaching of national languages, but also establishments providing optional teaching of ancestral languages. Their functioning was dependent both on the policies of the party and state authorities towards the home countries of the minority communities and on the assumptions of the state educational system, outside of which they could not work.
