Book description:
Józef Ulma was a gardener and social activist. As an amateur photographer, he documented the life of his home village of Markowa in the Podkarpacie region. He immortalised his wife Wiktoria and his young children Stasia, Basia, Władzio, Franuś, Antoś and Marysia in many of his photographs. In 1942, the Ulmas took in Jews from Markowa and Łańcut - the Goldman, Grünfeld and Didner families - who were seeking help. A year and a half later, on 24 March 1944, they were all murdered by German gendarmes. Józef and Wiktoria Ulma were posthumously awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1995. They will be beatified in 2023.
