Book description:
The book was prepared by employees of the Institute of National Remembrance, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It includes documents regarding the repressions carried out in the eastern voivodeships of the Second Polish Republic occupied by the Soviets after 17 September 1939. They are related to the eponymous order of the deputy minister of internal affairs of the USSR Vsevolod Merkulov from the autumn of 1939 regarding the liquidation of the so-called counter-revolutionary base - recording and then repressing potential opponents of the Soviet authorities as well as employees and secret collaborators of Polish civilian and military secret services. Soviet actions carried out from the fall of 1939 correlated with earlier ones from the period 1937-1938, aimed at Poles living in the USSR.
