Book description:
The subject of the book is Poland’s attitude towards the idea of establishing a Jewish state (1944-1947) and towards Israel (1948-1967/1968). The author presents not only the history of diplomatic, economic and cultural relations, but also the connections between the policy towards Polish Jews and activities regarding Israel. Using the Israeli example, she examines the extent to which the foreign policy of post-war Poland was dependent on Soviet policy. It describes both the attitudes of the Jewish population in Poland and its representatives, as well as the attitude of Poles towards the Jewish state.
