Book description:
The themes of nineteenth-century national captivity and the struggle for an independent Poland are still of interest to historians. The hundredth anniversary of regaining independence and the scientific conference in Kielce on 8-9 November 2018 provided an opportunity for researchers from across the country to come together. The outcome of the conference is the present publication, consisting of fourteen articles by renowned researchers, discussing such issues as the specifics of Poland’s history in the nineteenth century, concepts of reconstruction and discussions on the shape of the independent state, various forms of activity for the benefit of society and the regaining of sovereignty, issues of social awareness of the rural population or the care of war invalids during the Second Polish Republic.
