Book description:

A collection of eleven articles on Fighting Solidarity, highlighting the Autonomous Eastern Division. The authors described the structures of Fighting Solidarity, the forms of its activities and its cooperation with the anti-communist opposition in the Eastern Bloc countries. A separate part of the study consists of recollections of representatives of Georgian, Tatar, Ukrainian and Lithuanian organisations concerning the assistance provided by Fighting Solidarity to anti-Soviet groups operating in the USSR. The primary objective of the few people who formed the Autonomous Eastern Division was to consolidate anti-communist circles in Central and Eastern Europe, especially in the Soviet Union. The final outcome of the activities was to be the collapse of the Soviet empire, which took place in 1991. “I think we were a really decent Polish diplomacy. We didn’t have much in the way of resources, experience, only sincere willingness,” said one of the collaborators of the Autonomous Eastern Division of Fighting Solidarity after many years.
