Volume three contains selected documents of the intelligence service of the Polish People’s Republic produced by Department I of the Ministry of the Interior. They show the reactions of the West, particularly the Vatican, to the abduction and murder of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, the Toruń trial and the subsequent repercussions of these events. Information was collected by officers working at the head office and at the outposts. It was primarily used for the day-to-day arrangement and forecasting of the state’s relations with the Church.
